Kiser Arenas Horse Arena Water Trailers 101

September 6, 2022

When you think about an arena with great footing, you probably think about dirt, sand, or clay. But did you know that a horse arena water trailer can be one of the most important ingredients to horse arena footing?

No matter the materials your arena is composed of, each type of footing needs moisture to keep it balanced and help it remain dust-free. This is achieved by implementing a water trailer into your arena maintenance routine.

As busy horse people, we understand that extra time is a luxury and innovation is key to any successful operation. Due to this, The Kiser Water Trailers were designed for versatility with perfection in mind.

What kinds of water trailers does Kiser Arenas offer?

Kiser has various sizes of water trailers to fit your needs.  We have 525, 1010, 1315, 1610, and 2010 models.  All trailers are available in both AG versions and DOT versions, except 2010, which is an off-road trailer only.

Other uses for a Horse Arena Water Trailer:

  • Fire prevention/extinguishing
  • Dust control on dirt roads
  • Filling water tanks
  • Large areas that need extra watering

How do you know which water trailer to buy?

To determine which water trailer you need, call our office, and we will walk you through it.  There are several factors to address here, such as your tow vehicle, the terrain you will be using it on, the size of your arena, and so on.
For example, on a standard 150 x 250 arena, we would recommend a 1010-gallon water trailer.  However, if all you have is a UTV to pull it with, and you are on flat ground, then you do not have enough tow vehicle or stopping power to handle that big of a trailer.

What makes the Kiser Arenas Water Trailer Systems the best?

We only use the best parts to set our trailers apart from the competition. We use Honda engines, Banjo Pumps, and fittings, so there are no problems with the engine or plumbing, and the longevity will outlast the competition.  We also use black tanks, which are both heavier tank, and also helps to deter algae from growing in the tank due to sunlight not being able to shine through.
Another feature we have is the single output water nozzle on the rear of the trailer.  Most companies use several nozzles, which creates an overlap of water, so you get uneven watering in your arena.  Our nozzle creates an even spray over the entire spray pattern width and allows you to adjust the pitch so that you can spray anywhere from 8’ to 30’ in width.

How to fill your water trailer

To fill the water trailer, you have three options.  The first option is to take the lid off the top of the trailer and fill it with your water supply there, whether that is an overhead tank or simply a water hose running into the tank.
The second option is the quick coupler on the rear of the tank.  This option has a float valve that allows you to hook your water hose up to the trailer, and once the water level reaches the float, it will shut the water off to the trailer.
The third option is to purchase the optional 20’ suction hose, which will allow you to backfill the tank from a pond or external water source by sucking the water up through the pump and sending it into the tank through the return line.

How to drain your water trailer

Draining the water tank is easy.  You can simply disconnect the supply line from the bottom of the tank which is attached with a camlock system for easy removal, and open up the valve to let all of the water out of the tank.  There is also a thumbscrew drain plug on the bottom of the pump that can be removed to drain the pump.  So essentially, without any tools, you can have the trailer able to drain completely in a minute or less.

Does it need sanitation/what kind of maintenance is needed?

Our water trailers require little to no maintenance.  The only thing you need to do is make sure that the engine has oil and gas in it, and because it is a small engine, we suggest using some kind of fuel treatment in the engine if it is going to be sitting for some time without being used.
Regarding sanitation, there is nothing that needs to be done here unless you will be using it for Potable Water. Then you need to follow the guidelines your state or government regulations require.

Are there any DOT certifications?

All our water trailers are available in a DOT version that can be pulled down the highways except the 2010 gallon trailers.  Those are only available in an AG version.
